Internet advertising continues to grow
In a depressed Australian advertising market, internet marketing continues to grow with Internet advertising forecast to rise 40 per cent to $1 billion this year, according to a PricewaterhouseCoopers report.
The increase in spending will outpace free-to-air television, which will grow at 4.1 per cent, as the second highest revenue producer of any medium. Newspapers will take $5.84 billion in from advertising and consumer spending with the internet close behind at $5.28 billion. Both mediums will be well ahead of free-to-air television at $3.93 billion, PWC said.
By comparison the internet is now:
•
Double the size of outdoor (5.1%)
• Double the size of consumer magazines (4.6%)
• Three times the size of radio advertising (3.4%)
• Half the size of the TV advertising market, which recorded a 22.7% market share following a decline of 1.3%
